CANCELLATION OF BOARDS EXAM

A student who is appearing for the Board examination can only describe the exact meaning of it. This is not just an examination for a student but this is the examination where students, their parents and their relatives are also involved into it. It is the examination where the students and their parents wait for at least 5 years prior to it. Parents do their best in providing all the necessities to their wards and students start formulating their strategies to give their best shot. This exam paves the first path for the students’ career.

It not only measures the knowledge of a student but it tests a lot of parameters in real. Those parameters are patience, dedication, determination and much more which is not just only of students but it tests the same of their parents and teachers.

The announcement of Government regarding the cancellation of Boards exam has surprised me and forced me to think that what is exactly going on with the education system of our country.

Everyone is well aware that this exam teaches a student about many things apart from studies. It teaches that how to survive the competition, how to deal with stress, how to deal with peer – pressures and many more. But the saddest part is that those students who are not able to appear for the examination will not be able to go through these experiences and understanding as a whole.

While, this is not just the bad news for students, teachers or parents but for relatives as well who was waiting from such a long time to knock your door on the result day to show your concern.

One thing that strikes to my mind is that if premium competitive examinations like CAT, UPSC, etc. can be conducted online then why not the Board examination? CBSE should utilize their resources effectively and efficiently to conduct the examination as this examination matters the most in India. It helps in getting a good college, helps in getting a job and provides many experiences as well. This is because it is not just a mere examination. In fact, this is the examination where which the students get their base of their careers and hence the decision is not acceptable for the long term.

The decision to cancel the examination is not suitable and therefore CBSE and Government should look into it. If teaching and completion of syllabus can take place via online mode then examination should also be taken care otherwise the study which had taken place in the online mode will also be questioned.

The cancellation of the Board Examination is not the answer. Please be safe and be aware.
